The Apache Software Foundation: History, Mission & Vision (Rich Bowen, Apache Software Foundation)

2017 22 min D2iQ en YouTube

Mesos is part of the Apache Software Foundation, which stewards over 200 projects in a vendor-neutral, collaborative development model. Understanding the Apache Way helps understand why certain things happen the way that they do in the Mesos project, and will make you and your team better equipped to work with the project. From developing software to running communities to governing a Foundation, the Apache way has been at the center of the Apache Software Foundation since its inception. In this keynote, given at MesosCon EU on October 26, 2017, Rich Bowen, the VP of Conferences for the Apache Software Foundation, details the vision and mission of the foundation, including their commitment to open source and merit-based promotion of projects such as Apache Mesos, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Cassandra, and more. Review the slides from the presentation here: http://boxofclue.com/presentations/apache_way/#1 About the speaker: Rich Bowen is the VP of Conferences at the Apache Software Foundation. Rich has been involved in Open Source since before it had that name. He's a director at the Apache Software Foundation, and a community architect at Red Hat.
